About
All of us here at Abbeywell Surgery work hard to maintain an excellent reputation, both as a traditional, patient-centred, holistic family practice, whilst making full use of the latest technology and research evidence to provide the very best care.
We maintain continuity of care by developing great relationships. We encourage patients to see the same Doctor, however, our Nurses are playing an ever increasing role in the provision of healthcare, taking the lead on many aspects of managing specific chronic conditions.
Some of our GPs are also specialised in particular areas and their expertise may prevent a hospital referral – giving you the opportunity to have your condition managed in the surgery quickly and effectively.
We aim to prevent ill health, improve wellbeing and provide services that support local health
We deliver high quality services responsive to the needs of our patients and local community
We will work to deliver innovative and flexible solutions to support you
We use resources efficiently and deliver services in a financially considerate way

Clinical Team
Our Doctors are only a small part of our wider multidisciplinary team (MDT). We have so many other healthcare professionals, and by working together as a team, we can provide timely care to our patients more effectively and efficiently.
Advanced Nurse Practitioners
Our ANPs assess and diagnose common illnesses, just as our GPs do. They can provide treatment and advice, and have undertaken additional training to be able to prescribe medication if needed.
Nurses and Health Care Assistants
Our Nurses and HCAs are involved in so many aspects of patient care including: helping our patients manage their long term conditions, blood tests and electrocardiograms (ECGs), travel health, child immunisations, family planning and health screening.
Abbeywell Dispensary Team
Our dispensary team looks after all aspects of running our dispensary at Abbey Mead. They handle requests for medications from our patients, then prepare and dispense these. They ensure prescriptions are filled promptly, and that stocks of medications are maintained.
Non-clinical Team
Practice Managers
Hannah Beauchamp, Practice Business Manager and our management team are vital to the running of our GP surgery and ensure that patients are always at the centre of the surgery’s operations.
Administration Team
Our hard-working administrative staff are the friendly faces greeting you at reception or on the other end of the phone. They treat all patient queries with discretion and respect and are the professionals that keep our surgery operating smoothly. From booking your appointments, to keeping records and stock up to date, they ensure that the clinicians have all the right information and resources available to give you the best service.
