Think 3 before GP

You may have seen the publicity initiated by Professor Helen Stokes-Lampard, Chair of the Royal College of GPs, around the national “THINK 3 BEFORE GP” campaign, to help guide patients and help with pressure on appointments.

THREE STEPS BEFORE CONTACTING A GP

  1. Try self-care.  For common coughs, colds and time limiting ailments.
  2. Use NHS Choices for sound advice or information.  This will also tell you when to seek urgent attention if you are not sure.
  3. Seek advice or treatment from your Pharmacist.

The “3 BEFORE GP” mantra is a simple and easy way to help reduce the strain on general practice and we hope it will enable GPs to spend more time with patients who have complex health issues and who are most in need of their expert help.
